It's that time of year where we are reviewing past examination papers to prepare for the Year 11 and Year 12 exams. Our aim is to find questions that address basic skills (we've got lots of those!) and also questions that are non-routine in nature.
For most students it's not easy to identify the best strategies to solve a problem. Often that comes with experience.
Sure... the more you do, the better you get... but it helps with your confidence if you know how to determine the best strategy. Once you have the knowledge to break a question into it's parts and identify the path to the solution, it can have a big impact on your confidence.
That's where our tutorials can help. We're happy to help on a short term or occasional basis too. Face to face works well, but so can online tutoring.
Whatever your academic challenge, we wish you well and hope you can find the best strategy to a successful outcome!

This is such a helpful post — thank you for sharing these ideas about helping students with maths!
I’ve been tutoring for over 15 years and I see how much children benefit from structured, confidence-building practice rather than rote drills. That’s why I created a series of Smash Your Grade Maths workbooks — each filled with exam-style questions that strengthen reasoning, accuracy, and problem-solving skills.
You can see them here: 👉 https://astarmaths.com.au/maths-books/
Hopefully they help other parents, teachers, or tutors looking for quality printable practice materials.
